Why Do We Conduct Transition Assessment?
- Transition assessment takes place because the law requires it, but there are other reasons from an educational perspective for carrying it out.
- To gather useful information about and with a student to inform our teaching and their educational experiences.
- The better the information, the better informed our planning and teaching will be with regards to students' knowledge, skills and attitudes.
- We need to do transition assessment because "longitudinal studies show that we need to be more targeted in our planning to get better postsecondary results." (Teevens, 2008).
