Find Help When You Need It

Staying up to date on the latest education, benefits, and employment information is essential for transition educators. At the same time, it can be difficult to schedule quality technical assistance and training to support teachers, transition coordinators, and administrators. Luckily, there are many agencies in Indiana that provide training and technical assistance to prepare teachers to support their students.

The Indiana Secondary Transition Resource Center (INSTRC) offers ongoing training and technical assistance, such as:

INSTRC also provides targeted training to school districts and cooperatives. To learn more about these training opportunities or to schedule a targeted training, visit the INSTRC web site or email us at INSTRC@indiana.edu.

Special educators can also get information, training, and guidelines related to all areas of education and transition from the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). For instance, the Indiana Secondary Transition IEP Best Practices Self-Assessment Toolkit Rubric helps districts and cooperatives know the quality of their transition planning and service delivery. To request technical assistance and training through the IDOE go to the Office Student Support and Accessibility and complete a Technical Assistance Request Form.

Another support resource network provided by the IDOE is the Indiana Resource Network. It includes the IEP Technical Assistance Center and PATINS (Promoting Achievement Through Technology and Instruction for all Students). Both centers provide technical assistance, information, and trainings connected to transition to adulthood, IEPs, curriculum, assistive technology, and accessibility.

For technical assistance and transition support, reach out to INSTRC or any of these agencies above. You are not in this alone!
